Stony Brook reaches 100K vaccine milestone
Stony Brook University celebrated a major milestone in the global effort to provide COVID-19 vaccines to the public.
Stony Brook has distributed more than 100,000 vaccines from the university’s R&D Park, one of several locations in New York’s network of state-run vaccination sites. The Stony Brook location opened on Jan. 18. Stony Brook Southampton opened as a state vaccination site on March 19.
“As we administer our 100,000th COVID vaccine here at Stony Brook University’s R&D Center, I am proud of our accomplishments as the largest state-run Point of Distribution vaccination site in Suffolk County,” said Maurie McInnis, president of Stony Brook University.
According to New York State’s COVID-19 vaccine data, more than 1 million Long Islanders have received at least one vaccine dose and more than half a million have completed the series.
More information about vaccine eligibility and availability can be found on the state’s website.
