New cookie concept is a hit in Lindenhurst

Chonky Cookies, a stuffed cookie concept, is wowing customers after opening in a Lindenhurst shopping center.

No half-baked idea, Chonky Cookies is the brainchild of Heather Friedfertig, a 24-year-old who lost her regular jobs as a result of the pandemic.

Chonky Cookies got its start by selling cookies through Instagram and the baked goods were made in a shared commercial kitchen in Farmingdale. But last month, the business opened a retail store in the Sunrise Plaza shopping center at 646 N. Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst.

The inventive sweet offerings include the popular Bada Bing, stuffed with Italian rainbow cookie. There’s also cookies stuffed with marshmallows, cotton candy, chocolate bars, peanut butter and more.
