More than 350 compete in TOBAY Triathlon and Tri-Relay
More than 350 competitors from the tri-state area tested their strength and endurance recently at the Runner’s Edge TOBAY Triathlon and Tri-Relay.
The event, presented by Engel Burman and managed by the Greater Long Island Road Running Club, included a half-mile swim in Oyster Bay Harbor, a 12.3K hilly bike ride through Oyster Bay and Oyster Bay Cove, and a 5K run past Mill Neck and Brookville.
The participants competed for top honors in 13 age categories as well as a separate team relay which was made up of members completing each element of the race.
“All of us at Runner’s Edge would like to send a big congratulations to all of the competitors on competing and finishing the race,” said Bob Cook, owner of Runner’s Edge, a family-owned and operated running store that served as the main sponsor. “We’re so appreciative of our local running, biking, and swimming community and the TOBAY Triathlon and Tri-Relay is our chance to give back to them.”
Participants were treated to a post-race celebration hosted by Mill Creek Tavern and the Oyster Bay Brewing Co.
Scott Burman, principal at Engel Burman and president of EB Construction, a leading Long Island real estate developer, said the company was thrilled to help sponsor this year’s event and support the greater athletic community.
“Inspired is an understatement for how it felt to watch hundreds of individuals cross the finish line and we look forward to next year’s event,” Burman said.
