United Way gets $388K grant for air filtration units
United Way of Long Island will receive a $388,000 relief grant towards air filtration units distributed to Town of Hempstead seniors with underlying health conditions.
The town grant, made possible by federal CARES Act funding, will reimburse the United Way for the purchase and distribution of 500 portable, medical-grade HEPA air filtration devices.
Previous relief grants were also issued to organizations such as United Way of Long Island, which provided hundreds of air filters to seniors in the first phase of the program announced in 2020.
