Stop & Shop teams up with New York Islanders
Stop & Shop announced a new three-year partnership with the New York Islanders this week.
The grocery chain is the official supermarket of Long Island’s hockey team and will join them to help fight hunger.
For every home game assist the Islanders make, Stop & Shop will donate 100 meals to Island Harvest. Additionally, the Islanders will support several of Stop & Shop’s anti-hunger initiatives, including its annual Turkey Express program which will bring thousands of turkeys to Long Islanders in need, as well as Stop & Shop’s ‘Shop with an Islander’ program where youngsters will have the ability to shop for their holiday meal with team alumni, with Stop & Shop picking up the tab. Stop & Shop will also partner with the Islanders for their annual Food Drive game taking place on Nov. 24.
Stop & Shop’s sponsorship will also be visible via in-game signage at the new UBS Arena at Belmont Park, when the Islanders play their home opener on Nov. 20.
“We are excited to partner with the New York Islanders both on the ice and in our communities,” Gordon Reid, president of Stop & Shop, said in a company statement. “We look forward to working as a team to achieve the ultimate goal – eradicating hunger on Long Island.”
