Winters Bros. donates turkeys to Wyandanch food pantry
Winters Bros. Waste Systems and Winters Center for Autism contributed 150 turkeys to the Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center in Wyandanch earlier this week.
The turkeys are being distributed to those experiencing hardship this holiday season.
The food pantry at the Wyandanch center is one of the largest on Long Island, providing annual assistance to some 15,000 people in need.
“As a new nonprofit in the Babylon community we have been fortunate enough to be the recipient of good will and are happy to be able to give back to our community,” Christine Ponzio, executive director of Winters Center for Autism, said in a written statement.
Noelle Campbell, Gerald J. Ryan Outreach Center’s executive director was overjoyed to learn about the Winters commitment to giving back to the community.
“The need for food in the community is tremendous this year, as many families are struggling to choose between keeping the lights on or having a holiday meal,” Campbell said.
Winters Bros. principal Jimmy Winters said the company has supported Long Island communities since 1950.
“We love Long Island,” Winters said. “It’s our home and we want to make this Thanksgiving special for all Long Islanders.”
