Art works sought for Black History Month celebration

Westbury Arts is seeking original works for its annual celebration of Black History Month.

Artists who self-define as African American are invited to submit original cultural works for a juried exhibit at Westbury Arts new gallery at 255 Schenck Ave. in Westbury.

This year’s theme is Creative Visions of Community and Cultural Reflections.

Entries must be submitted before 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10 and acceptance notification will be sent to artists by Friday, Jan. 14.

Delivery of the artwork to the Westbury Arts gallery is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 22, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

An opening reception for the exhibit is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the exhibit runs through Saturday, Feb 26.
