Green Drop donation trailers opening at two Long Island malls

Long Island’s first Green Drop donation trailers are opening at two shopping malls.

The first Green Drop trailer opened this week at the Walt Whitman Shops on Route 110 in Huntington Station. A second trailer will open soon at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove.

The trailers accept lightly used clothing and other household items. Every time people bring their items to the trailers, Green Drop pays its nonprofit and charity partners for the donations, helping them fund their programs in the community.

On Long Island, the donated items will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Donation Center. People who bring items will be emailed a tax receipt from the charity.

The Green Drop trailer at the Walt Whitman Shops is located in the parking lot by Panera Bread and the trailer at the Smith Haven Mall will be located in the parking lot by the Cheesecake Factory.
