Long Beach celebrates centennial with scavenger hunt

The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce and the City of Long Beach will host a scavenger hunt to celebrate the seaside city’s 100-year anniversary.

Participants in the scavenger hunt, to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, will uncover fun facts about the history of Long Beach, explore local businesses, solve clues, complete challenges and take part in the ‘Long Beach Best Bite’ by visiting select restaurants for a chance to win prizes.

The scavenger hunt is designed for teams of four to six people and starts at Kennedy Plaza in front of Long Beach City Hall.

Equinor, a wind power company, is the scavenger hunt’s presenting sponsor and other sponsors include Joyce Coletti of Douglas Elliman Real Estate, Cafe of Life Chiropractic, Leah Tozer of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, South Nassau Mount Sinai, Anchor Tavern, Engel Burman, Herald Community Papers and CPT Accounting.

“The Long Beach Chamber and the City of Long Beach collaborated on this special event to drive awareness to our business districts by providing a fun activity that welcomes visitors to our city,” Karen McInnis, Long Beach City Council president, said in a written statement. “From dining and shopping to learning about our rich history and enjoying our amazing views, we will showcase Long Beach’s appeal as a year-round destination with endless activities and places to explore.”

The scavenger hunt will be administered by City Hunt, an app-based company specializing in team-building events that create community excitement and entertainment. The City Hunt app will provide all the clues/challenges, including a leader board, spy mode, and special offers from local businesses.

The cost is $12 per person and children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other adult.
