Sea Glass Festival comes ashore at Whaling Museum

The Whaling Museum and Education Center in Cold Spring Harbor is hosting the first-ever Suffolk County Sea Glass Festival.

The event will be held on Sunday, August 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Attendees will learn about the history of sea glass and can bring their own sea glass specimens to get expert identification from Mary McCarthy, the executive director of The Beachcombing Center.

The festival will feature discussions on the history of antique bottles and offer appraisals from the Long Island Antique Bottle Association.

There will also be a workshop on making sea glass jewelry, a glass-themed scavenger hunt for kids and sea shanties performed by The Royal Yard.

Tickets to the event are $10 and admission for museum members is $8, while children 3 and under are free. The sea glass pendant workshop costs $7 and it is $5 for members.

The Whaling Museum is located at 301 Main St. in Cold Spring Harbor.
