Mitch Creek makes NBA debut against Knicks

Long Island Nets forward Mitch Creek made his NBA debut for the Brooklyn Nets in Friday night’s 109-99 victory over the New York Knicks after being called up by Brooklyn on a 10-day contract.

Creek entered the game late in the fourth quarter to shoot two free throws after Rondae Hollis-Jefferson collided with Noah Vonleh and had to leave the court to get stitches. After missing his first shot, Creek made his second attempt, sending the crowd and his teammates into an uproar for his first point in the NBA.

The 26-year-old previously played eight seasons in the Australian National Basketball League with the Adelaide 36ers before joining the Nets.

Creek wasn’t the only Long Island Nets star to play in the game last night. With point guard Spencer Dinwiddie out with an injury, Theo Pinson came off the bench for his ninth NBA appearance, scoring a career-high 19 points in 26 minutes with 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.

Pinson has been playing this year for both Long Island and Brooklyn on a two-way contract, which allows players to play a majority of the season in the G-League while spending up to 45 days with their NBA team.
