Long Island law firm gives back for the holidays

The Mineola-based law firm of Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone had a busy December, putting together donations from its attorneys and staff and its charitable arm the Meltzer Lippe Foundation.

The firm’s season of giving included a donation of more than 8,500 pounds of food to Long Island Cares, thanks to an in-house food drive. The Meltzer Lippe Foundation also made a $10,000 donation to the annual Bethpage Turkey Drive supporting Island Harvest.

In addition, the law firm helped out FCA’s Adopt a Family program, granting holiday wishes for two families with items including toys for infants and older children, warm winter clothing, various home essentials and gift cards for personal use.

The firm’s annual Children’s Holiday Party for staff and their families was attended by around 45 children, each bringing an item to donate to the My Stuff Bags Foundation, which supports abused, neglected, abandoned, and homeless children of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions and economic backgrounds. The items donated included stuffed animals, infant toys and blankets to school supplies, stationery and books.

“The camaraderie and shared good we enjoy as a firm is secondary only to the joy we take in giving to those less fortunate than we are,” Managing Partner David Heymann said in a statement from the firm. “We have so much to be grateful for, and even more to give. Our team is remarkable in the generosity of their time, spirit and ongoing commitment to giving back.  Each year I am truly in awe of my colleagues’ generosity to support those in need in our community.”
