Native plant spring sale sprouting in Brentwood
The Long Island Native Plant Initiative will hold its annual spring plant sale in Brentwood this month.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 at the Sisters of St. Joseph greenhouse at 1725 Brentwood Road.
The sale will feature ethically sourced ecotypic plants, including wildflowers, grasses and woodies.
Founded 16 years ago, the nonprofit LINPI has been on the forefront of the native plant movement, developing local commercial sources of genetically native plant materials. The initiative continues advocating their use in regional landscaping, nursery production and restorations through ethical and permitted wildland seed collection, banking and seed and plant production and public education.
The sale raises funds for the nonprofit and serves to provide these plant materials to the public and nurseries. For more information visit: www.linpi.org
