Senior Discount Program launching in Nassau County

The Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce and the Nassau County Comptroller’s Office have launched a new discount program for seniors.

The discount program is aimed at providing money-saving opportunities for the 300,000 Nassau residents who are 60 years old and older. The county is also home to some 45,000 small businesses, and the program will also promote higher visibility and create new customers for those businesses, according to a statement from the comptroller’s office.

“Nassau County is rich with small businesses but this program is open to all businesses throughout the county,” Nassau Comptroller Elaine Phillips said in the statement.

In the first phase of the program, businesses in Nassau can sign up to register to participate in the initiative. Once the list has enough geographic and business-type diversity, a list of participating businesses will be posted online and also printed to be made available at senior centers, events and county offices.

“The council is always looking for ways to connect local businesses with new customers,” Frank Camarano, president of the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce, said in the statement. “This great initiative will expand seniors’ opportunities to explore new stores and restaurants at a discount. What could be better than that?”
