Long Island nonprofits have high hopes for GivingTuesday
On GivingTuesday, Nov. 28, the whole world comes together to give back in many different ways: through acts of kindness, gifts of voice, time, talent, or treasure.
Created in 2012 as a day to encourage people to do good, the idea has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
Nonprofits try to leverage the energy of GivingTuesday to tell their stories, engage advocates and build caring groups of benefactors for their important missions. On Long Island, there are many nonprofit organizations that can use some help and they’re hoping GivingTuesday will mobilize people to support them and the communities they serve.
