Long Island Board of Realtors assists two nonprofits
The Long Island Board of Realtors contributed $8,000 to support community programs on Long Island in honor of Giving Tuesday.
LIBOR leaders joined Rebuilding Together Long Island (RTLI) at the nonprofit’s Farmingdale headquarters to assemble holiday goody bags. The care packages were filled with essential home goods for people and families in need.
RTLI is dedicated to restoring the homes of economically disadvantaged homeowners, including the elderly, disabled individuals and single-parent families. The organization’s team of 300 volunteers forms the backbone of their impactful services, all provided at no cost to the homeowner.
LIBOR volunteers also participated alongside Island Harvest at its Community Mobile Market in Greenlawn, dedicating the day to distributing fresh food and products to hundreds of seniors, veterans and food-insecure community members. The effort was part of LIBOR’s annual Realtors Against Hunger campaign established in 2008 to combat hunger within local communities.
LIBOR’s contribution will aid Island Harvest in providing special holiday meals to more than 21,500 struggling families this year.
“Giving back, and caring for our Long Island community is not just an honor, it’s a responsibility. Long Island Board of Realtors is committed to standing beside our neighbors in their times of need,” Gina Marie Bettenhauser, LIBOR president, said in a written statement. “Partnering with Rebuilding Together and Island Harvest reflects our dedication to making a meaningful difference, one home, one meal at a time.”
