Helping Hand Rescue Mission building new community kitchen
The Helping Hand Rescue Mission is in the midst of building a new community kitchen at its Huntington Station headquarters.
The old kitchen was destroyed by a flood in Jan. 2022 and the mission has been raising money for the rebuild. So far, the mission has raised about three-quarters of its $850,000 goal to complete the project.
Since 1986, the mission’s commercial kitchen and dining room has cooked and served nutritious meals to families and individuals in need and the new kitchen will expand its capacity to help even more in the community.
The Helping Hand pantry currently serves over 200 families each week in addition to helping other organizations with food, but building the community kitchen is essential to once again be able to serve hot meals.
