Suffolk Credit Union helps secure grants for seven nonprofits
Seven local nonprofit organizations have received Small Business Recovery Grants with an assist from Suffolk Credit Union.
The money comes from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY) Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) Program, according to a Suffolk Credit Union statement.
Three healthcare organizations received $10,000 each from the grant program, including St. Charles Foundation in Port Jefferson, St. Catherine of Sienna Foundation in Smithtown and Good Samaritan University Hospital Foundation in West Islip.
The Nassau Community College Foundation in Garden City, the Brotherhood for the Fallen in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk Crime Stoppers in Yaphank and New Beginnings Christian Church in Coram, each received grants of $5,000.
“Our team is proud to demonstrate our support for organizations that do so much to support our Long Island communities,” Michele Dean, CEO and president of Suffolk Credit Union, said in the statement. “As a community-focused credit union, it is gratifying to assist the dedicated organizations that received these grants as they continue their work to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all Long Islanders.”
Under the SBRG program, FHLBNY members, including Suffolk Credit Union, were able to provide grants to qualifying small businesses and nonprofit organizations that have faced economic challenges due to the rate environment, inflation, supply-chain constraints and/or rising energy costs. Final decisions on the grant allocations were determined solely by the FHLBNY.
