Dress for Success Brookhaven marks 20th anniversary

Volunteers and staff from the Town of Brookhaven’s Dress for Success boutique marked 20 years of helping women across Long Island this week.

Dress for Success aims to empower women by providing professional attire for job interviews, a network of support and other tools for success. Brookhaven became the organization’s first affiliate in 1999.

Dress for Success provides women with two suits when they have a job interview. When they get hired, they can return for an additional week’s worth of work clothes. The boutique also coordinates with local nonprofits such as domestic violence agencies, veterans organizations and homeless shelters, as well as job training programs.

The organization is located at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville and sponsored by the town’s Department of Housing and Human Services. The boutique is open Monday through Friday and visits are available by appointment only.

Dress for Success Brookhaven will be holding a gala at Land’s End in Sayville on June 20 to celebrate its anniversary.
