Seal watching tours at Cupsogue Beach
For those looking for a unique winter experience, seal watching walks might fit the bill.
The Coastal Research and Education Society of Long Island offers guided seal walks on Cupsogue Beach and February and March are peak months for encountering seals on the shore.
The East End of Long Island becomes a winter haven for seals seeking refuge along its shores for temperature regulation or preparing for birth. The guided walking tours, which cover 1.2 miles and last between an hour and 90 minutes, are free, though recommended donations are $5 for adults and $3 for those under 18.
Reservations are required and more information can be found at: cresli.org
