Charitable bike ride event returning to Oyster Bay

The Empire State Ride Long Island is once again coming to Oyster Bay.

Hosted by the Town of Oyster Bay, Long Island’s largest charitable bike ride to benefit cancer research is scheduled for Saturday, June 8. Money raised will go to Catholic Health Cancer Institutes and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The event features three course lengths for riders of all ages and ability. All routes will begin on Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay, by the Oyster Bay Post Office. For those who can’t cycle but wish to attend and support the event, downtown Oyster Bay will also host a street fair, hosted in partnership with the Oyster Bay Main Street Association and Oyster Bay-East Norwich Chamber of Commerce. The fair will feature local businesses, food, live music and fun activities for families.

Over the past three years the event has raised more than $300,000.

Registration is now open for the fundraising event with a $25 fee for each participant. Riders will commit to a fundraising minimum which is $200 for adults and $75 for riders under 18 for all routes. To kick start each rider’s efforts, their $25 registration fee will be credited to their fundraising page. Those interested in learning more or signing up to ride and raise funds for the event, should visit www.esrlongisland.com.
