Coltrane Home to hold A Force For Good Day

The Coltrane Home will hold its first annual service event, A Force For Good Day, in Dix Hills later this month.

The free event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Half Hollow Hills Community Library, honors Alice Coltrane as part of the “Year of Alice” campaign currently underway around the country, and John Coltrane ahead of his 98th birthday Sept. 27.

Attendees at the event can collect free books and school supplies and learn about all the free services available for students from the library and the Huntington Town Youth Bureau. They can also meet friends from The Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame, who will offer some free surprises.

And since the event is all about the Coltranes, the event will feature a series of performances from some very talented young Long Island student musicians, which will be ongoing through the afternoon.

The Half Hollow Hills Community Library is located at 55 Vanderbilt Parkway in Dix Hills.
