Smithtown celebrates another successful shred event
Town of Smithtown residents last month securely disposed of more than 18,000 pounds of personal documents at the town’s biannual shredding event, hosted by the Smithtown Department of Environment and Waterways.
The event, held at the Municipal Services Facility in Kings Park, ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and saw a steady flow of participants throughout the day.
The confidential shredding service, provided by Oceanside-based Complete Shredding Solutions, allowed residents to safely destroy sensitive documents without worrying about potential identity theft.
Town Councilman Thomas J. McCarthy praised the event, highlighting the community’s strong participation and the efficiency of the service.
“The shred event is an invaluable service, giving residents a secure way to dispose of sensitive documents without risking their confidential information,” McCarthy said in a statement.
The next shredding event is scheduled for May 3, 2025. For updates on future events, residents can visit smithtownny.gov or download the free Town of Smithtown mobile app.
