New pickleball courts and playground transform Huntington’s Otsego Park
The Town of Huntington recently unveiled six new pickleball courts and an ADA-compliant playground at Otsego Park in Dix Hills.
The project, totaling over $740,000, is part of a multi-year initiative to improve accessibility and recreational options in the town’s parks. The courts replaced a deck hockey rink that had deteriorated over the years.
The upgrades include a brightly colored playground, new safety surfaces, walkways, landscaping and benches. A shaded picnic plaza is planned for future development.
Town Supervisor Ed Smyth highlighted the town’s commitment to its public spaces, noting significant park investments in recent years, including enhancements to Al Walker Park, Crab Meadow Beach Playground and Whitman Park. A new playground at Heckscher Park was also recently completed.
“We are proud of the Otsego upgrades,” Smyth said in a statement. “The popularity of this park will assuredly climb with these new additions and enhancements.”
The 2025 budget includes additional upgrades for parks such as Columbia Street Park, Koster Park and William Burn Park, along with phase two of the Crab Meadow Beach Playground.
