Food distributor and local officials team up for turkey giveaway
The CEO of a Westbury food distributor joined local officials to give away turkeys to families in need last month.
All Round Foods CEO Glen Wolther, Nassau County Legis. Siela A. Bynoe and Robert Troiano, Jr., the Westbury School District Board of Education president and a North Hempstead Town councilman hosted the event along with Westbury School Superintendent Tahira A. DuPree Chase, Westbury School Board Trustee and Village of Westbury Trustee Pedro Quintanilla at Park Avenue Elementary School.
Wolther donated 150 turkeys, Omni Recycling and Jamaica Ash contributed 60 turkeys and local business owner Joe Stasi and his family donated 35 turkeys that were given to families from the Westbury and New Cassel communities. The local officials were joined by community volunteers and Westbury students Laila Desir, Kevin Mendoza Ceron and Emily Soriano in distributing the turkeys.
“It is a remarkable experience to help others in your community and witness firsthand the positive impact of altruism,” said Councilman Troiano. “We truly appreciate the efforts of all of our volunteers, especially those of the event’s major benefactor, Glen Wolther. Through the generosity of our sponsors and volunteers, we were able to put turkeys on the tables of many who otherwise may not have had them.”
Following the turkey distribution, Troiano honored Wolther with a proclamation from the Town of North Hempstead, recognizing his admirable record of community service, which besides donating turkeys, includes his philanthropic support of Westbury’s senior center, St. Brigid’s 5K, the PTA and numerous organizations that positively shape the community. Wolther’s business, All Round Foods, also provides crucial assistance to U.S. military personnel overseas by supplying food products to U.S. military bases throughout Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
