PSEG-LI employees serve veterans in November
Throughout the month of November, PSEG Long Island employees participated in a series of events in Uniondale to support local veterans during Veterans Day and Thanksgiving.
“Our Military Tuesday events, second annual Thanksgiving meal giveaway with Long Island Cares and other activities enable our volunteers to give thanks to local veterans,” said David Lyons, PSEG-LI’s interim president and COO, in a statement. “These initiatives help hundreds of servicemen and women keep warm and enjoy the holiday season.”
Notable efforts included:
- Nassau County Veterans Stand Down: Employee volunteers distributed winter coats, boots and essentials to more than 400 veterans.
- Thanksgiving Meal Distribution: At two drive-thru events in Hauppauge and Lindenhurst, volunteers provided over 1,000 veterans and their families with turkeys, holiday sides, desserts and reusable shopping bags with LED bulbs.
- Military Appreciation Tuesdays: At six Long Island Cares food pantries, veterans received healthy food, personal care items and resources about PSEG-LI’s financial and energy efficiency programs, serving over 1,000 veterans and family members.
PSEG-LI employees also supported veterans throughout the year with events such as produce and clothing distributions, wreath-laying ceremonies and participation in the 22 PTSD Awareness Challenge.
“Working side by side with PSEG Long Island gave us the great privilege of bringing this wonderful service to those who served and kept us safe and free,” said Dr. Jessica Rosati of Long Island Cares.
