FCA awarded $265K to open behavioral health clinic on Long Island

Family & Children’s Association (FCA) has been awarded $265,000 in start-up funding from New York State to establish a certified community behavioral health clinic on Long Island. The grant is part of a $3.5 million initiative from the New York State Office of Mental Health to launch 13 community health clinics across the state, with six downstate and seven upstate locations.

CCBHCs are designed to provide comprehensive care, integrating behavioral health, physical health and social services. These clinics aim to ensure that individuals of all ages have access to critical mental health and substance use services, regardless of their financial situation or location.

“We are thrilled to receive this competitive funding and are deeply grateful to New York State,” said Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, president and CEO of FCA, in a statement. “This support will allow us to meet the growing demand for integrated mental health and substance use disorder services on Long Island. Too often, individuals are forced to visit multiple locations for comprehensive care. With this designation, we can offer a seamless solution.”

FCA currently operates two clinics on Long Island, located in Hempstead and Hicksville, which provide services to individuals and families. By earning the CCBHC designation, FCA will expand its ability to address service gaps and provide comprehensive, lifespan care in both locations. The designation process is expected to be completed by July 1st.
