Roosevelt Field to celebrate Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year will be celebrated with special events at the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City to honor the diverse cultural heritage of the area’s Asian-American community.

The Year of the Snake will be ushered in with celebrations from Saturday, Jan. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 2 at the mall’s North Court near the Primark store.

From noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, shoppers and other visitors at the mall can enjoy traditional songs performed by the Korean American Youth Choir of New York.

From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, Roosevelt Field will host the Chinese Center on Long Island with performances of the Lion Dance, Fan Dance and other traditional Chinese dance.

In addition, select retailers at the mall are offering exclusive limited-edition, Year of the Snake-themed items along with special deals and offers just in time for Lunar New Year.
