TFCU opens nominations for annual Teacher Appreciation contest
Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) has announced that submissions are open now until Tuesday, March 18 for its annual Teacher Appreciation Week Contest, recognizing educators nationwide who are making an outstanding academic contribution to their community.
Nine educators from three grade categories — pre-K through 5th grade, 6th through 8th grade, and 9th through 12th grade — will be awarded a total of $15,000 in classroom grants, as well as TFCU promotional giveaways for their students and classrooms. Grant recipients will be announced during the nationally recognized Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5 through May 9.
There will be three recipients per category, each receiving a classroom grant based on scoring: $2,500 for 1st place, $1,500 for 2nd place and $1,000 for 3rd place.
Anyone 18 years of age or older can nominate a teacher who is currently teaching in any public or private school district in the United States. There is no limit to the number of times an educator can be nominated, and multiple entries are encouraged. You do not need to be a Teachers Federal Credit Union member to nominate or be nominated.
Following the nomination period, a Teachers Federal Credit Union panel will evaluate the nominees and select eighteen finalists, six from each of the three teaching categories. Public voting for the finalists will take place on TFCU’s website, www.teachersfcu.org, beginning Monday, April 21, and nine recipients will be announced Tuesday, May 6.
