Newton Shows’ 28th annual Kids Fest coming to Merrick

Newton Shows, a family-owned Long Island carnival company, is bringing the 28th Annual Kids Fest to the Merrick Train Station Friday through Sunday, April 25 through April 27, featuring a variety of new rides as well as food and games.

Every year, the Kids Fest carnival helps raise money to provide scholarships to students with special needs from the three high schools in the Bellmore-Merrick School District through the Merrick Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Fund. The proceeds also help with the chamber’s networking meeting and lighting for their holiday festival.

“We’ve been working together forever,” said Ira Reiter, president of the Merrick Chamber of Commerce and chairman of Kids Fest. “Mike (Newton, owner of Newton Shows) and I work really well together. He puts on some really great events.”

The event will also feature a Children’s Magic Illusion Show on Saturday and Sunday at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

“We are looking forward to having a phenomenal spring season, with everyone coming out to enjoy the rides and get some fresh air,” Newton said.

Kids Fest is open Friday, April 25 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.The Merrick Train Station is located at 76 Merrick Ave., between Sunrise Highway and Loines Avenue in Merrick.
