Members of the Northport community donated more than 300 DVDs to the drive.

Jennifer Young has won Visit Orlando’s Most Magical Gathering contest and will enjoy an Orlando vacation experience with 49 of her closest family members and friends at Walt Disney World Resort.

The 2.2-mile run/walk began and ended at Walker Beach, where the bravest among the crowd dipped into the frigid 40-degree waters of the Great South Bay.

With the beach itself as a classroom, Energy & Us encourages students to think critically about their role in the energy systems and environments that surround them.

The nonprofit received $9,585 in donations this past week, taking in most of it on Jan. 17, which would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2111 Lakeland Ave.

The nationwide challenge, created to honor the beloved actress and animal rights activist’s 100th birthday, asks people to donate $5 to any animal shelter or animal rescue organization on Jan. 17.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The South Huntington School District has received the Humane School District of the Year award from Long Island Orchestrating for Nature.

Westbury Arts is seeking original works for its annual celebration of Black History Month.

The two-day event known as Mulchfest takes place at Baldwin Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2 and Saturday, Jan. 8.
