The roof donation is the latest charitable effort by King Quality Cares, which aims to support the important work of charities and community organizations across Long Island.

The two organizations held a special reception at The Art Guild in Port Washington on Sunday, Jan. 21 for a show called “Expressions–Our Perspective in Art, Photography and Words.”

John LaSpina, president of Maple Family Centers, was named the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of State Veterans Homes.

The clinic, called “Her Time to Shine,” was held at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury.

The project, called “Putting the Oyster Back in Oyster Bay,” is being funded by a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

The team will provide monthly career mentoring to two local high school students enrolled in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island’s Rise Up program.

A portion of the proceeds from the upcoming New York Islanders vs. Florida Panthers game will directly benefit the foundation.

The money funded the purchase of 15 giant lighted snowflakes that are hanging up and down Main Street in Port Washington for the holiday season.

The grants support efforts to advance progressive social change, like advocacy training for Latina immigrants, protecting the culture and identity of Long Island’s indigenous tribes, promoting inclusive school environments and more.

The annual holiday effort, which BBBSLI has organized for more than 20 years, benefits more than 550 Long Island children.

Supporters of the nonprofit organization gathered at Maple Lanes RVC in Rockville Centre for two hours of bowling, food and fun.

The Garden City museum installed more than 800 new LED lighting fixtures and LED light bulbs in its main gallery.

The mission shares donated decorations with families in need at no charge during its community outreaches from Tuesdays through Fridays.

More than 100 pizzerias donated $5 for each pie sold on Pizza Strong Day.

At last count, more than 4,300 turkeys were donated to the drive, which also marked its 15th anniversary.

The family-fun event featured a free youth basketball clinic for 50 Long Island kids.

Joel was presented with a key to the town and the street in front of his motorcycle shop, 20th Century Cycles, was renamed Billy Joel Way.
